Robot Vacuums Reviewed
If the idea of wandering around your home with a vacuum in your hand doesn't thrill your inner domestic god/goddess like it used to, perhaps it's time to let the robots take over. Here are a few little overlords—I mean robotic vacuums ready to sweep you away!
iRobot Roomba e5
Well let's get to the Roomba right out of the gate. With its first Roomba launched in 2002, you can see how the nearly 20 years of development steadily grew iRobot into the leading global consumer robot company. The Roomba e5 is the first of the e series and has five times the air power than the 600 series. Ideal for a home with pets, it will not only vacuum the hair but claims to trap 99% of cat and dog allergens. Just wash out the bin, et voila! Rubber brushes handle both hardwood and carpeted flooring, and you can use the iRobot HOME App to start it up, see cleaning history, update its software, and get basic maintenance help. Or just holler at your Roomba with Alexa-enabled and Google Assistant capable devices.
As with all Roomba's, the little guy will go to the dock after 90 minutes of work to stay charged and ready to serve you. While the Roomba e5 has gotten excellent consumer reviews, it has been noted to occasionally miss spots and is a bit noisy.
Available at iRobot for $349.99
eufy RoboVac 11S
Welcome eufy's slimmest RoboVac, the 11S. With increased suction power and just under 3” tall, this little vacuum can get under low-hanging furniture with ease and will run for up to 100 minutes before docking itself to charge. An infrared-sensor and drop-sensing technology will keep it from bumping into things or falling down the stairs, and the noise-level while running is comparable to the volume of a conversation. The dustbin can hold up to 0.6L of debris sifted through the three-filter system. The Robovac 11S is ideal for medium-pile carpet, tile, laminate, and hardwood floors. The 11S also provides BoostIQ™ Technology which will increase suction power if it detects more power is needed to “take out the trash” as it were.
Available on Amazon from $279.99 and on sale for around $159.00
Samsung POWERbot R7040
Last but not least is the Samsung POWERbot R7040. A more affordable option to the R7065, the R7040 will not only vacuum your home, but it will map your home with its Visionary MappingTM and FullView SensorTM to design the best cleaning path and avoid obstacles and falls. Remotely control your POWERbot with your smartphone or voice enabled devices. While the R7040 will run for about 60 minutes before needing to charge, this robot won't give up; if the job isn't done, it will charge up and keep going until everything is sparkly clean! Touting twenty times more suction power than conventional robot vacuums with a circular design, the POWERbot uses its squared off side and special Edge Clean Master extendable rubber blade to get in every corner. It also has two large wheels that will lift the front of the vacuum to get up onto carpet or over a small ledge to your hardwood.
